2025 Honda CBR1000RR
Customer reported starting and running issues, described as running on 2 or 3 cylinders. Informed that they just came back from the Tail of the Dragon. Unit was mainly used for commuting and had accumulated over 13,000 miles in 9 months.
After teardown, we found that extended low RPM usage resulted in excessive carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. Combining this with bad fuel from a rural gas station caused the carbon to keep some of the valves partially open, explaining the running condition.
Combustion chamber was properly cleaned, valve clearances were adjusted accordingly, and unit was assembled. Running issues were corrected and the bike felt better than ever.
